Welcome to the Jones History Site!

Welcome to JonesHistorySite.com. This site is dedicated to providing an online resource for information regarding the family history of David A. Jones and Debbie Haynes Jones. The collective history of our family reaches back to early Norman times in England. It also has roots in Wales, Ireland, Scotland and Holland and France. Like many people from the Southeastern United States our family history represents a great journey leading from the British Isles to the shores of the New World and beyond.

I hope you will find the journey through these pages to be insightful. Please visit often as material will be added frequently. Genealogy is a voyage of discovery. One never knows what will be found next.

The Edwards Connection

The documented beginning of my Jones line begins with  my G- G-G-G-Grandfather, John L. Jones.  He immigrated to the America from Wales. The time of his immigration and initial landing place are unknown at this time. We know that John ended up in South Carolina after service in War for Independence and married Miss Drucilla Edwards on December 26, 1798.

Attached is one of several articles that I will post on the family line of Drucilla Edwards. This Edwards line is intriguing in that it is connected to a lost fortune in Manhattan real estate and to Henry VIII, the Tudor monarch. Any further information regarding the information contained in the article or on John L. Jones would be greatly appreciated by the author.

Colonel Nicholas Spencer

Extract from From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Col. Nicholas Spencer (1633–89) was a London merchant who emigrated to Westmoreland County, Virginia, where he became a planter and which he represented in the Virginia House of Burgesses. Spencer later served as Secretary [1] and President of the Council of the Virginia Colony, and on the departure of his cousin Thomas Colepeper, 2nd Baron Colepeper in 1683, was named Acting Governor (1683–84), in which capacity Spencer served until the arrival of Governor Lord Howard of Effingham.[2] Spencer's role as agent for the Culpeppers helped him and his friend Lt. Col. John Washington, ancestor of George Washington, secure the patent for their joint land grant of the Mount Vernon estate. Col. Spencer is my grandfather nine gererations removed.
